-
- : So what? Good and fast Operating Systems do not exists for PC's!
-
- What kind of a response is that? He has a valid point - there just *isn't*
- a browser as good as Netscape for the Amiga. Period. Now by pulling some
- tricks (mainly by making the Amiga pretend it's another computer) you can
- run good browsers, but so far the options for Amiga-savvy GRAPHICAL
- browsers are pretty lame.
-
- (ALYNX is a great text-based WWW browser, however, and it's the onw I use
- on my A3000 every day.)
-
- And FYI there are some pretty good OS's for Intel boxes out there. They
- just have much the same problem as the Amiga when it comes to mainstream
- application availability.
-
- :>: 2. Graphics cards are too expensive and they are not as fast as their PC

- : That will change now.
-
- NOW they are still quite expensive. NOW is what's important to someone who
- needs a computer NOW. Not two or three years from now.
-
- :>: 3. Amigas are expensive
- : And so is all the hardware you need to run shit on a PC!
-
- The point he was trying to make (and it's a valid one) was that you can get
- a pretty loaded PC for the same amount of green you'd need to spend on a
- pretty bare A4000T. It's just a fact of life now.
-
- :>: 4. They are not that easy to upgrade. Try adding a graphics card to an
- :>: A1200
-
- : What do you expect? if you plan on putting cards in a computer, get one
- :with slots! DUH! Besides, ever try to put a card in a PC? And have it work?
-
- Oh come on. Cards in PC's aren't *that* difficult to set up. The point
- was that the only Amiga that could possibly compete with PC's in the
- price/performance area isn't currently upgradable. Which is, of course, a
- bad thing.
-
- :>: 7. Most games only run in 15 Khz mode because DBLNtsc is slow
-
- : Most games run in 15khz mode cuz the programmers suck.
-
- I personally don't care what mode they run in because I have the Amiga that
- was properly designed (A3000). But whether the programmers suck or not,
- they're the ones putting out this floppy-only 15 KHz crap out on the
- market. For most of the rest of the world, floppy-only games went out ages
- ago.
-
- I've got a perfectly good hard drive in my A3000. I stopped buying
- commercial games because they wouldn't support it.
-
- :>: 8. Amiga games suck compared to the onse in the PC world
-
- : If having games that don't take all the system resources suck, then I
- :guess they do.
-
- You won't get Descent on an Amiga without a serious hit in system
- performance. Assuming Descent was actually made for Amigas, of course.
- But there are only two or three commercial games I own that don't shut down
- the OS completely anyway, so I'm not sure what point you're making. Even a
- lot of the PD/SW stuff I've seen blocks you from using workbench as well.
-
- :
- : If price is your only descent argument
-
- Well, Descent is a good argument, I think. :)
