  23. What kind of a response is that?  He has a valid point - there just *isn't*
  24. a browser as good as Netscape for the Amiga.  Period.  Now by pulling some
  25. tricks (mainly by making the Amiga pretend it's another computer) you can
  26. run good browsers, but so far the options for Amiga-savvy GRAPHICAL
  27. browsers are pretty lame.

  29. (ALYNX is a great text-based WWW browser, however, and it's the onw I use
  30. on my A3000 every day.)

  32. And FYI there are some pretty good OS's for Intel boxes out there.  They
  33. just have much the same problem as the Amiga when it comes to mainstream
  34. application availability.

  46. The point he was trying to make (and it's a valid one) was that you can get
  47. a pretty loaded PC for the same amount of green you'd need to spend on a
  48. pretty bare A4000T.  It's just a fact of life now.

  56. Oh come on.  Cards in PC's aren't *that* difficult to set up.  The point
  57. was that the only Amiga that could possibly compete with PC's in the
  58. price/performance area isn't currently upgradable.  Which is, of course, a
  59. bad thing.

  65. I personally don't care what mode they run in because I have the Amiga that
  66. was properly designed (A3000).  But whether the programmers suck or not,
  67. they're the ones putting out this floppy-only 15 KHz crap out on the
  68. market.  For most of the rest of the world, floppy-only games went out ages
  69. ago.

  72. commercial games because they wouldn't support it.

  79. You won't get Descent on an Amiga without a serious hit in system
  80. performance.  Assuming Descent was actually made for Amigas, of course. 
  81. But there are only two or three commercial games I own that don't shut down
  82. the OS completely anyway, so I'm not sure what point you're making.  Even a
  83. lot of the PD/SW stuff I've seen blocks you from using workbench as well.
